What attracted you to come and work for Digitonic?

When I first came across the opportunity to work at Digitionic, I had recently come back from a lengthy adventure travelling around South East Asia with my wife. I’d returned home with a whole new perspective, and was ready to tackle something new, exciting and challenging. Digitonic are a company that is always striving to innovate and provide new and exciting software, so the opportunity to bring the skills I’ve learned over the years to a company with this goal had me very interested.

How would you describe your role at Digitonic?

My role is that of QA Analyst, which basically means I’m responsible for testing all of our products before they’re ready for release. It’s my job to make sure that everything works the way it’s supposed to and that no errors or bugs in the product get through to the final release. In short; I’m the final “safety net”! I’ve also been responsible for setting up a more defined QA process at Digitonic, which is slowly coming together and being integrated into the workflow of the development team.

What are the key skills and attributes to succeed in your role?

The most important skill, in my opinion, is having good attention to detail. When testing any piece of software, it’s important that you examine every single area and aspect as closely as possible. You should also try to consider all possibilities, no matter how unlikely or how outside of the core functionality of the product they may seem to be. You’d be surprised how many issues you can find just from thinking outside the box! Good communication is also key, as I work very closely with the development team and need to relay, in great detail, any issues found during testing to them so that they can be fixed as quickly as possible.

What motivates you to come to work every day?

I love what I do at Digitonic, but what I love even more is the individuals that work alongside me. Everyone is passionate about what they do and everyone wants to make a difference and that alone is reason enough to come to work every day and give it my all. It’s a real pleasure to work with such positive and proactive people, and it creates a similarly positive work environment that is honestly amazing to be a part of.
